First day back at university students say like a dream

Some first-year students shared the same feeling of euphoria when stepping foot into the lecture hall for the first time after 9 months of epidemic prevention, studying online at home.

A dream come true for a freshman

It has been 5 days since Pham Phu Nghia, a student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, got on the bus from his hometown of Quang Nam to Ho Chi Minh City to study. Nghia's living environment was changed from the slow, gentle to the crowded and bustling city.

The reason Nghia entered the city early was to catch up with the hustle and bustle of the city before entering the university lecture hall. Before that, Nghia had come to the school, visited the facilities, walked to get used to the way from home to school. “Then I went to eat, play football, get used to life with the group of friends who studied online before. The more I play, the more I see that online learning only knows each other's faces, but when we meet again, we understand each other more," Nghia confided.

On the morning of 14.2, Nghia, like many first-year students, went to school together in an excited mood. "The first day of school, I was very happy because many friends invited me to go out, visit the school, meet the teachers and everything was new," Nghia continued.

And Nguyen Thi Truc Ly, a first-year student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said: “I have to wake up early and no longer sleep in like when I study online. There is no time off. The first day was a bit overwhelming, but because I had prepared well in advance, I was able to keep up with my studies," Ly said.

First-year students like Ly also face many difficulties such as finding accommodation, getting lost on their way to school... However, thanks to that, Ly believes that she has trained herself to be independent for life.

On the first day she entered the lecture hall, Ly was a little pressured, but this female student told herself to try to learn and overcome.

Many freshmen are still confused with their new environment

Entering the university lecture hall is a dream for a girl from Gia Lai. “This dream has been around since graduation, but the time has come and the dream has come true. I really like the city, like the rhythm of life to let me develop more and more," Ly expressed.

Soon to return to community activities

Nguyen Minh Huyen, a journalism student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City, said she studied one of the most important majors - television - on her first afternoon back at school. The female student felt quite surprised and reassured when the class was quite crowded. Everyone is full of energy and connected to each other after months of "separation".

“First of all, I hope the school always ensures safety against Covid-19 but still creates a connected and friendly learning space. In that spirit, I hope community activities, volunteering and international exchanges will return soon," Huyen shared.

Some other students will continue with long-established plans

And Bui Hoang Thien Long, a student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City, shared: “After a long time of studying online, I finally got to meet my friends in person. People chatted about one thing after another. Most of them have a feeling of nervousness before going back to school like a new student."

The male student said that some friends had just returned from their hometown to Ho Chi Minh City, had not yet arranged their accommodation and work, so they were absent or late for the first face-to-face class. "As a third-year student, I don't have to prepare much, mainly to rearrange work and work time."
